Forest School

Forest School sessions are outdoor learning sessions, which include a combination of adult-led activities alongside child-led learning and play. In these sessions we will explore a variety of topics depending on the season. Topics include foraging, identifying plants, searching for bugs, planting, natural crafts, using ropes, using outdoor tools, games, singing and more. Children are given the freedom to join facilitated activities or direct their own learning using the equipment provided or by exploring our woodland base. We hold Family Forest School sessions for children aged 3-8 attending with their parent/ carer and drop off Forest School sessions for children aged 6-12.

Forest Play

Forest Play sessions are child-led, free play in nature. Children benefit from interacting with a consistent group of peers in a mixed age group (0-11 years) each week, in the same nature base. In these sessions children may choose to climb trees, roll down hills, search for bugs or just enjoy sitting in nature. Suitable for children of all ages attending with a parent or carer.

We are not currently running Forest Play sessions

Campfires

Campfire sessions are held in local community gardens either as stand alone sessions or as part of a term of Forest School. We cover fire safety, fire lighting techniques and cooking over a campfire. These sessions are aimed at children aged 4-11 years attending with a parent or carer; however, older and younger siblings are welcome to attend.

Community Events

Curious by Nature aims to benefit the local community and connect with people throughout the community, even those without young children. We do this by holding Community Litter Picks, Clothes Swaps, Nature Walks and Community Celebrations throughout the year. These events are open to everyone in the wider community and encourage working together to respect and care for our local resources.
